Mother's Day 2017

For the second year in a row, the Liegel family celebrated Mother’s Day in Hoboken. Since my brother had to work all day I had my parents to myself. Our usual go-to as a family is Court Street, so I figured it was about time I expanded my mother’s Hoboken horizons. After I had mentioned I had been there a decent amount of times with friends and always had a good experience; we headed to Zack’s Oak Bar & Restaurant. They’re a little off the beaten path, tucked away on the corner of 3rd and Willow, and they have a decent amount of variety for their brunch options which I find isn’t typical for Hoboken menus.

The weather was beautiful and allowed a lot of additional outdoor seating options, so we were seated immediately after arriving. My mother and I each ordered a bloody mary (with Tito’s of course) while my father had a cappuccino. I ordered a salad from their specials menu for that day; tuna over arugula with sun dried tomatoes served with a yummy piece of avocado toast. My mother had the asparagus omelet served with potatoes, which was also on their specials menu and my father had the Farmer’s Breakfast, which was two eggs, sausage, bacon, and hash browns. Our waiter was attentive and hospitable, the bill was reasonable, and everyone was left satisfied.
